The night was dark not a star was shining It was near the time most families are dining But alone sits
one little girl on the street cold wind through her curls. All alone, she has no one else her
family, she remembers with a necklace of shells She wanders the street no one to take her in In the bitter
cold she has no kin She looks into windows where families are cheerful But, poor little girl, she's
nothing but fearful It's holiday time when there's always a party and stories are told by old uncle
Marty But this little girl who's all by herself She believes in no Santa she believes in no elf
There once was a time when she did beleive But this last time nothing came on Christmas Eve Her childish
fancies her childish dreams were all torn away and ripped at the seams This Christmas for her there's
only one desire to have a family and sit by the fire
